Student summer storage in Oxford, Brookes and Cirencester. Pod to your door, not a box at the post office.
End of term in Oxford or Cirencester and you can’t take everything home? Faringdon Removals delivers a 35cuft storage pod to your student house or college for £10 per week plus a one-off £99 collection. Holds a typical room: bedding, kitchen kit, books, bike. We store till September. Return delivery £99. No box-by-box pricing tricks.
The end-of-term problem
You’ve got eight days to clear out. The car your parents are bringing fits a duvet, a kettle and maybe a bike. Not the whole room. Shipping home costs more than the stuff is worth and your bedroom at home was repurposed as the office in 2024 anyway.
The big-name student storage companies charge per box, push insurance upsells, and the bill creeps to £400+ for a single-room summer. Then they lose half a box.
A mobile self storage pod is a different shape of solution. One unit. One price. Whole room in, whole room out.
How it works for students
- Book online. Term-time postcode goes in the gate: Oxford OX1-OX4, Cowley, Headington, Jericho, Cirencester GL7, anywhere within 30 miles of our Faringdon depot.
- Pod arrives 9am at your student house or college (we’ll deal with a college bursar if it’s college accommodation, drop the name in booking notes).
- You load through the day. Books, posters, kettle, bedding, bike, the lot.
- 6pm we collect. Pod goes to our depot. Dry, alarmed, insured.
- Before next term, book a return delivery date. We bring the pod back to your new house, you unload.
What size for a student room
| Pod | Fits | Weekly rent |
|---|---|---|
| 35cuft | One typical student room: single bed kit, clothes, books, kitchen box, bike | £10/week |
| 125cuft | Two students sharing storage, or a postgrad with a full flat’s worth | £20/week |
Most undergrads share a 35cuft pod with a housemate (split the £99 collection two ways, store in separate sealed boxes, separate return dates from your accounts).
Worked example: 16-week long vac
Oxford long vac (late June to early October) is roughly 16 weeks.
| Pod delivered + collected (Basic, you load) | £99 |
| 16 weeks rent @ £10 | £160 |
| Total to store for the summer | £259 |
| Plus return delivery in September | £99 |
That’s around £16 a week all-in including return, versus £350-450 with the major branded student storage companies once their per-box maths kicks in.
Splitting with a housemate brings it to roughly £180 each for the whole summer.
Why not just use studentsummerstorage.com?
Fair question. That’s our sister site for door-to-door box storage, designed for students who only have a few boxes and no easy load space (e.g. living in a tower-block hall). If you want a whole-room pod, on your own driveway or house forecourt, this page is the right product. If you want box-by-box porter collection, studentsummerstorage.com is the right one. Same family, different shape of service.
Student questions
I live in college accommodation. Can the pod come into the quad?
Usually no. Quads are pedestrian and tight. We park on the nearest road or in the porters’ lodge area and you barrow your stuff out. Brookes and RAU campuses have actual loading bays we can use. Mention your college in the notes and we’ll plan it.
Can my housemate and I share one pod and split the cost?
Yes, and lots do. Label your boxes clearly, take photos before we collect. You can book separate return delivery dates from each of your accounts if you’re moving to different houses next term.
What if my next-term house isn’t sorted yet?
Storage just renews every 4 weeks until you tell us where to deliver back to. You can update your delivery postcode any time.
Is my stuff insured while it’s in storage?
Yes, pod contents are insured up to £2,000 against fire, theft, water damage. Anything worth more (a fancy bike, lab equipment), declare it and we’ll quote a top-up.
I’m a finalist and leaving for good. Can I have the pod delivered to my parents’ house after?
Yes. Delivery anywhere in the UK is doable. We quote distance for anything beyond our 30-mile radius. Most parents’ addresses come in around £150-£250 one-way.
