Decluttering Storage Pod Oxfordshire — Clear the Spare Room | Faringdon Removals

Decluttering storage. Clear the spare room, garage or loft into a pod on your driveway.

If you’re decluttering before a sale, downsizing, or just done with the spare-room mountain, Faringdon Removals delivers a 125cuft storage pod to your driveway across Oxfordshire for £20 per week plus a one-off £99 collection. Fill it in a day, store it as long as you need (4-week minimum, no lock-in), decide at leisure what stays and what goes.

The spare-room, garage and loft problem

You’ve meant to deal with the spare room for two years. The garage hasn’t fitted a car in five. The loft is structural at this point. You’ve watched the Marie Kondo episode. You’ve bought the colour-coded bins.

The honest reason it doesn’t happen isn’t laziness. It’s that decluttering at home means everything ends up in the lounge for three days while you decide. The house gets worse before it gets better, the family revolts, you give up.

A mobile self storage pod is a different approach. Everything you’re not sure about goes in the pod on Saturday. Empty rooms by Sunday. You then have 4 weeks (or 8, or 12) to come back to it, sort what’s worth keeping, what’s worth selling, what’s heading to the tip.

How it works for decluttering

  1. Pod arrives 9am Saturday on your driveway. Anywhere within 30 miles of SN7 7SS: Oxford, Swindon, Witney, Wantage, Cirencester, Bicester, Abingdon, Faringdon itself.
  2. Whole-house sweep. Garage, loft, spare room, shed, the cupboard under the stairs. If you’re not 100% sure it stays in the house, it goes in the pod.
  3. 6pm we collect. Pod goes to our depot. Dry, alarmed, insured. House feels twice the size.
  4. Over the next month or two, come back to the depot by appointment to pull out specific boxes (one access free, £30 thereafter), or have the whole pod redelivered for £99 when you’re ready to do the keep-vs-bin sort properly.
  5. Done? Either redeliver and finalise, or some customers extend a third pod into permanent storage of the seasonal stuff (Christmas tree, ski gear, baby clothes for grandchildren).

What size for decluttering

PodHoldsWeekly rent
35cuftA few boxes. Small declutter, kid’s toys cleared£10/week
125cuftSpare room + half the garage. The decluttering sweet spot£20/week
250cuftWhole loft + garage + spare room, or pre-downsizing£30/week

Worked example: 8 weeks to clear and decide

The classic decluttering window. 2 months to come back to it on weekends.

Basic collection (you load, 125cuft)£99
8 weeks rent @ £20£160
Subtotal: 8 weeks to decide£259
Return delivery to sort/sell at home£99
All-in if you redeliver and finish at home£358

Or skip the redelivery and dispose direct from the depot: bring a friend with a Luton, sort over a weekend, only the keep boxes come home. Saves the £99 return.

Decluttering questions

I want to sell things. Can I access the pod to sell items individually over the weeks?

Yes, by appointment at the depot. One access trip is free; £30 per visit after that. Most decluttering customers book one big “selling Saturday” visit, bring boxes home for collection by buyers, then return what’s left.

Can I just pay you to take stuff to the tip / charity?

Yes. At end of storage, we can do a tip-and-charity run for £45 per cubic metre disposed. We sort into reuse (British Heart Foundation furniture collection) and dispose appropriately. Receipts provided.

I’m decluttering before selling the house. Should I empty rooms or just clear surfaces?

Empty wins every time. Agents will tell you the same. A pod for staging-time is one of the highest-ROI moves you can make on a house sale. Empty rooms photograph better and feel bigger.

What if I forget what I put in the pod?

Take photos as you load, and label boxes clearly. We can also send you a photo-inventory shot we take at depot intake. Just request it in booking notes.

I want to declutter but live in a flat with no driveway. Can it still work?

If you have a parking bay or can reserve a single street parking space (or two) outside your block for the day, yes. We’ll need 8m × 3m of clear space. Talk to neighbours, mention it in the booking, we’ll plan it.
